Overview
GPS Source, located in Pueblo, Colorado, sells various GPS signal distribution products and services. One of these is the GPSRKL12O OmniSTAR L1/L2 repeater. Like others in the company’s series of repeaters, it is a low consumer of power.
The GPSRKL12O is used neither for location nor navigation, because the GPS location is in an active antenna outside the building. Instead, it is put into operation for testing and initializing a system and demonstrating a product.
Customers include government and commercial enterprises. More than 350 customers are using nearly 2000 of the manufacturer’s repeaters.
The repeaters are used in vehicle and aircraft testing and maintenance, research and development, and training and customer service facilities. Manufacturers of GPS capable products (such as aircraft, automobiles, cell phones, and GPS receivers) also put them to use. Receivers maintain “hot” status for emergency response vehicles, infantry and special forces as well as military aircraft. In commercial uses, the repeaters allow indoor operation, make procedures more efficient, reduce costs, and improve response times.
